Game of Thrones won’t air its finale until 2019, but HBO is already looking to fill the hole left by its juggernaut fantasy series. Their current plan is a new show just as massive in scope as the original, penned by Kingsman and Kick-Ass writer Jane Goldman.
Long before Sansa Stark ever picked up a sword was the Age of Heroes, the era of time in which The Wall was built and the Lannister house was founded. The new show would take chronicle the “descent from the golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour.” What exactly this descent entails is still unknown.
Details on the new show are scarce– it doesn’t even have a title yet– and HBO says it wouldn’t air until at least a year after the finale of Game of Thrones. Importantly, the network has only greenlit the pilot; a full series is as-of-yet unconfirmed.
Even still, Thrones fans are already accustomed to long waits. Having something to look forward to after Jon Snow turns into a dragon and Daenerys rides him into the sunset (UNCONFIRMED) is welcome.
