EA spent their Saturday afternoon showing off Battlefield 5 and its multiplayer modes. The big surprise from the event was that the shooter series would be jumping head first into the suddenly crowded battle royale genre. The EA Play event was kicked off with a short trailer showing a snow-covered multiplayer battle that highlighted both infantry and vehicle combat.
It was also reiterated that the game would have no paid maps or Premium Pass, an expansion pack that has traditionally always been sold along with games in the Battlefield franchise. The Grand Operations multiplayer mode was announced back at the Battlefield preview event a few weeks ago and EA is expected to show off the mode this week at E3.
Battlefield 5 will also sport a new cooperative mode when it launches on PS4, Xbox One, and PC on October 19.
