After the success of last year’s Assassin’s Creed: Origins, fans wondered how long it would take for publisher Ubisoft to deliver on the next chapter in the storied franchise. Origins had been released after taking an extra year for its development cycle, so players wondered if the franchise would adopt that strategy for the series going forward. Thanks to Canadian Walmart ruining E3 (and a keychain), we learned that the assassinations would be back by holiday 2018. Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey was officially revealed during the Microsoft E3 press briefing. The Shacknews street team was on hand and was able to secure some exclusive 4K footage from the game during ship to ship combat.
The game will feature two different playable characters, a first for the series. For more details, you can check out our hands-on preview from playing the E3 build. Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey will arrive on PC, Xbox One, and PS4 on October 5.
