Nintendo has confirmed that actor David Hayter is still the voice of Snake in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Following the news earlier today that every character in franchise history will return, Nintendo’s Nate Bihldorff confirmed to IGN that Hayter is indeed still the one voicing Snake, though he was not able to confirm whether Hayter re-recorded his lines or if Ultimate is using the same audio as Snake’s original appearance in 2008’s Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

Hayter previously voiced Snake for years, but did not voice the character in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, even for the character’s classic skin based on Snake’s original PlayStation appearance. However, Hayter did briefly reprise the role for a series of Ford commercials as well as an unofficial fan game back in 2016.
