Overkill and Starbreeze studios take on the Walking Dead is still very much alive and kicking. Judging by the new trailer shown below, the game still appears to be a cooperative shooter in a vein similar to Left 4 Dead. Of course, this was just a cinematic trailer so its still unknown how true this is, but those answers should be forthcoming soon now that the game has finally gotten a release date.
