The Assassin’s Creed series has long been on the crown jewels of publisher Ubisoft. Originally debuting back in 2008, the franchise exploded onto the scene with a fresh setting and a wildly original take on stealth and action that mixed in an intriguing backstory. Fast forward ten years and it would seem the Ubisoft had milked the cow dry, but the huge success of 2017’s Assassin’s Creed: Origins sparked new life into stabbing really old people. As the release of its follow-up, Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey approaches this holiday season, we got a chance to chat with Senior Producer Marc-Alexis Cote at E3 about bringing the series to ancient Greece.
Cote explains how the game’s new dialogue system and expanded RPG mechanics will change the series’ tried and true gameplay. While these games seemingly release every year, such large projects take years to come together and Ubisoft makes use of multiple studios around the world to bring these historical open worlds to life. Cote also covers the team’s thought process behind choosing ancient Greece.
Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey also marks the first time that players will be able to play through the game as two different characters. In this case, the protagonists will be siblings, both from the lineage of the Spartan King Leonidas. You will be able to dive into the magic of Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey on October 5 on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
