Huge open-world games with expansive storylines and ultra-detailed graphics might be the norm these days, but for many players, it’s hard to compete with a deliberately-crafted, pared-down experience. As it turns out, even the concept of massive games like Minecraft can be boiled down to its essential elements, and that appears to be the vibe that indie title Forager is working toward. Shacknews had a chance to speak with Evan at E3 2018 about the upcoming game and learn more about the activities available within Forager.

In a nutshell, Forager is a city building game where players are initially confined to a lilliputian island. From there, the player will be tasked with surviving and crafting their own city using the supplies they can forage from nearby trees, rocks, or otherwise. A number of different skills and feats will be available, and different resources will combine to form various new buildings and building upgrades.

Forager, being developed by HopFrog and published by Humble, first made its appearance during a Game Jam event. The game turned out to be a hit, and the developers decided to move forward and bring it to other platforms. Forager is currently slated for a Fall 2018 release, and users can find more information over on the game’s Steam page. We also know it will be coming to Nintendo Switch, though it’s not clear if it will be coming to other consoles as well.
