E3 2018 is upon us and as all the video game industry heavy hitters gather in Los Angeles for the world’s biggest celebration of games. Square Enix is putting a big focus on Shadow of the Tomb Raider, the third entry in the modern trilogy of one of gaming’s biggest franchises. During all the hoopla, we had the chance to sit down with Camilla Luddington, the lady whose face, voice, and body are captured to help bring Lara Croft to life. Also joining us is Darryl Purdy, Cinematic Performance Director at Ubisoft Montreal.

We speak with the two of them to get an idea of what it takes to create the character that is the conduit through which players interact with the world of Rise of the Tomb Raider. Luddington talks about returning as Lara for the third time and the process of whipping the game’s script into shape prior to diving deep into the voice and motion capture process.

You can get an up close look at the fruits of Luddington and Purdy’s efforts when Rise of the Tomb Raider swings onto PS4, XBox One, and PC September 14.
