It’s been quite some time since we’ve seen a new Armored Core game. Some would say it’s been too long. The last Armored Core title, in fact, was released in 2013: Armored Core: Verdict Day. Five years is enough time to go between releases, and could even prompt some to say that a franchise is dead or dying. That’s not the case, at least according to From Software, and in fact the president himself could possibly have even hinted at a new game that’s in development for the series.
During a recent interview with Famitsu, president Hidetaka Miyazaki was asked if any of the three new projects coming from the company (excluding Déraciné) would be a project regarding “those whose bodies are ready for combat.” He didn’t say no, leading many to believe that one of the games in development by From Software could in fact be a new Armored Core title. That entire thing is a reference to a Japanese meme, of course, and it seems Miyazaki knew exactly what was being asked.
It doesn’t come a surprise that a new game could be in development, any way you slice it. From the job listing spotted a while back on a job recruitment site looking for folks to work on a new project from Verdict Day’s director Naoyuki Takahashi to From Software assuring fans that the series isn’t over, it looks like we just need to have patience and faith. These new developments are certainly a step in the right direction.
