With Solo: A Star Wars Story not churning out the sweet moolah as Disney anticipated, the development of more standalone Star Wars projects has been put into question. But one report by The Playlist has Disney eyeing their streaming service, which launches sometime in 2019, for the exclusive home for their rumored Obi-Wan film.
The report also claims that Stephen Daldry (Billy Elliot), previously said to be attached to direct the film, left the project roughly six months ago. Even with a rumored 2019 start date for production, the spin-off film has no announced screenwriter attached to the film. Meanwhile, a Mos Eisley film that would focus on the wretched hive of scum and villainy in Tatooine is also rumored, along with the previously reported Boba Fett movie by Logan director and co-writer James Mangold.
