It has been a criminally long wait for the new season of Better Call Saul, but AMC is scratching our itch by teasing us with a new trailer. It’s a short one, but it’s informative on where the show is taking some established plot lines that will continue Jimmy McGill on the path to becoming the morally grey, scummy Saul Goodman that we know and (I guess) love.

“You know why God made snakes before lawyers? He needed the practice.” Jimmy is suspended from practicing the law for a year, but he looks optimistic as ever, with Kim Wexler still at her side. Interestingly enough, we don’t see any glimpse of how Jimmy is taking the loss of his older brother, but we see that tensions are rising between Kim and her former boss, Howard Hamlin, which could very well stem from the loss of Chuck.

Meanwhile, in Mike’s half of the show, our favorite fixer is getting used to working for Gus Fring, who himself is in conflict with Nacho, last seen attempting to assassinate Hector Salamanca with phony heart pills. Oh, and remember those creepy twins from Breaking Bad who almost never spoke? Yeah, they’re back, and it looks like they’re racking up a body count. Plus, more Tarantino-esque trunk shots.

Surely we must be nearing the complete transformation of Jimmy to Saul—the runway has to run out of space eventually. And it’s never more evident that the Jimmy and Mike portions of the show feel completely different, and I’d like to see them intersect more often. We’ll see soon enough, with Better Call Saul returning to AMC on August 6. Perhaps by then, I will learn to stop accidentally typing “Better Caul Sall” every time I write about it.
