Yakuza Kiwami 2’s demo released today, with plenty of fun activities for players to busy themselves with ahead of the game’s full release this August. However, there’s one important thing you can’t do when exploring: Play the Virtual On and Virtua Fighter cabinets found within the Sega-branded arcades. When checking out the demo today, I made a beeline for both of them to try them out, but they were unavailable at this time, with a message telling me I’d need to wait until the full game is out to try them.
It’s interesting that they weren’t included, as they were indeed available during Shacknews’s time with Yakuza Kiwami 2 at E3 Judges’ Week, but their omission is likely because the demo needed to be a smaller size for folks to download it. It’s also possible that their exclusion has something to do with the snafu from the last Yakuza game, Yakuza 6, where the full game was made online.
Or it could just be a bid to get you to sample the game before making a purchasing decision, and those games being included are salacious enough to tempt you into buying. Whatever the case may be, I sure do miss them, and I can’t wait for August to get here. I’m going to spend all my yen playing golf and winning cute stuffed animals at the arcade instead with the crane game for now.
