EA DICE has been giving fans a lot of new information about upcoming release Battlefield 5, but it turns out they’ve also got a special surprise in store for players of past studios releases. The developer has announced that previous expansions for both Battlefield 1 and Battlefield 4 will be given to players for free over the summer as a special tribute to all their dedicated fans.

According to a post made over on the PlayStation.Blog, “every expansion for Battlefield 1 and Battlefield 4 will be free” in the months prior to the release of Battlefield 5. Understandably, they won’t just be handed out in waves to all players who log in during certain times — instead, they’ll be released gradually over the days and weeks, and players can simply claim their copies by heading over to the Battlefield Calendar website.

The current offering allows players to pick up the Battlefield 1: Turning Tides expansion and the Battlefield 4: Second Assault expansion for free on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, or PC via Origin just by following the associated links on the latest Battlefield Calendar post. Both expansions will only be available until Tuesday, July 17, so fans who want to scoop them up for free should act fast.

Battlefield 5 is slated to release for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on later this October; specifically, October 11 for the EA Access and Origin Access Basic Play First Trials, October 16 for Battlefield 5 Deluxe Edition owners, and October 19 for everyone else.
