In a small clip posted by Nintendo, general manager of software Shinya Takahashi answered some questions about Switch games like Splatoon 2 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

Within the context of Mario Kart 8’s recent Labo update, which allows players to use the Labo bike handlebars for the game, Takahashi says to expect more Mario Kart 8 updates incoming. It’s not clear if he means more Labo-like things or new content like tracks and characters, but it doesn’t seem like the Deluxe version is done quite yet.

Additionally, Splatoon 2 will be getting more updates until December. Takahashi didn’t say that’s when the game would be done with free updates forever, but considering it’s a year and a half after release, it would make sense that it ends at some point.

Splatoon 2’s Octo-Expansion released during E3 this year and you can find our review of it right here.

I really hope Mario Kart 8 Deluxe gets more content. It would be smart to launch the online service with something and having new tracks or a new DLC pack for one of the Switch’s best selling titles would fit that bill well.
