Activision and Treyarch made Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 official at a special event in Los Angeles back in May. The game had its worldwide debut and the team took the opportunity to reveal details about the experience and to announce some of the major changes coming to the popular franchise. The biggest news was that Black Ops 4 would not have a traditional campaign mode, instead focusing on multiplayer and zombies. The other big reveal was for Blackout mode, Call of Duty’s take on the battle royale genre. Eager fans can get their hands on both the multiplayer and Blackout modes early, as Activision has announced betas for both modes that will take place in early August.

There are several beta periods and they run at various times, depending on the platform. The full schedule for the beta periods is as follows:

  • PlayStation 4 – August 3 at 10am PT through August 6 at 10am PT
  • PlayStation 4 and Xbox One – August 10 at 10am PT through August 13 at 10am PT
  • PC Beta Early Access – August 10 at 10am PT (PC exclusively on Battle.Net)
  • PC Open Beta – August 11 at 10am PT through: August 13 at 10am PT (Battle.net)

All participants in the Beta will receive a unique, one-of-a-kind calling card that they can proudly display. And for every player that achieves max rank in the Beta, they will earn a Permanent Unlock Token to apply to any piece of Create-a-Class content when the game comes out. The Private Multiplayer Beta will feature Team Deathmatch, Domination, Hardpoint, and Search & Destroy, alongside the brand-new objective-based game mode, Control.
