Absolver is alive and well. The PvP-focused tactical combat game has reached 30,000 concurrent players on PlayStation 4 thanks to a recent boost from PlayStation Plus, the Xbox One version is still on the way, and developer Sloclap is preparing the Downfall expansion for September.

It sounds like the studio has kept itself busy as of late. Along with a fresh combat style inspired by Bruce Lee’s own Jeet Kune Do, the expansion will offer a new mode called Downfall:

“Battle deep in the mines of Adal as a solo warrior or in online cooperative play, collecting Gleam from infected Prospects and transforming it as a reward for your deeds. The more Gleam you capture, the more powerful you become in your struggle to defeat the Corrupted, and even Arcell himself. Each run through the Mines and Temples is a unique path through a variety of challenges and situations, facing upgraded enemies, and three epic boss fights.”

Elsewhere in the expansion, School Challenges will give players more incentives to compete with one another. Disciple-rank Absolvers and Mentors can take part in these challenges “by using their school’s decks and powers in 1v1 Combat Trials.” Depending on how well you do individually and collectively, you’ll get new rewards delivered “every three weeks, at the end of the season.”

It also wouldn’t be an Absolver update without some new fashion goals. On that front, we’re getting another six full sets (made up of 51 total pieces of equipment); two prestige variants of current sets; new masks, gloves, and swords; and six new emotes and three more PvP intros.

I’m pleasantly surprised to see support continue like this. Absolver will turn one in August.
