A big part of the Octopath Traveler experience involves customizing each of the game’s eight different heroes to suit the player’s interests. In the old-school RPG form, Octopath Traveler features eight core job classes as well as four advanced or “secret” job classes, and unlocking them all involves tracking down a total of 12 different shrines spread across the continent of Orsterra. Here’s where players can find all of the shrines in Octopath Traveler, including instructions on how to get there, the job classes they unlock, and the potential challenges that may await.

Shrine of the Healer – Apothecary

The Shrine of the Healer can be found toward the southern end of the map, outside of the town of Saintsbridge, accessible from the junction known as East Saintsbridge Traverse. From the save point and signpost at this junction, walk due east, beyond the rocky outcropping blocking view of the path, to discover a cave that serves as the entrance to the shrine.

Finding the Shrine of the Healer allows players to access to the Apothecary secondary job class.

Shrine of the Flamebearer – Cleric

The Shrine of the Flamebearer is located toward the northwest end of the in-game map, being situated just south of the junction point known as the Western Stillsnow Wilds. From the save point and sign post, head due south, aiming slighty east to come around the rise of the hill. Circle back west to spot a torch sitting outside the cave entrance.

Finding the Shrine of the Flamebearer allows players to access to the Cleric secondary job class.

Shrine of the Lady of Grace – Dancer

The Shrine of the Lady of Grace can be accessed from the save point and signpost just east of Wellspring, in the junction known as Northern Wellspring Sands. Start walking north toward the soldier, then follow the path west and north again until reaching the final red flag blowing in the wind. At the flag, continue west down the path obstructed from view by the rocky outcropping, then follow the path into the cave opening.

Finding the Shrine of the Lady of Grace allows players to access to the Dancer secondary job class.

Shrine of the Huntress – Hunter

The Shrine of the Huntress is located just east of the town called Victors Hollow, itself accessible from the junction known as East Victors Hollow Trail. The shrine itself is easy to find: from the sign post just a short ways north of the entrance to Victors Hollow, turn to follow the path east. When the dirt trail turns south, continue walking east into the grass, past the rocky outcropping blocking the path from view, to find the shrine entrance on the north side of the cliff.

Finding the Shrine of the Huntress allows players to access to the Hunter secondary job class.

Shrine of the Trader – Merchant

The Shrine of the Trader is situated just north of Northgard, accessible from the junction known as the Moonstruck Coast. Follow the sand due west and follow the shore through a stone archway, then continue as the beach wraps around further west before turning north. When reaching a dead end on the north side, turn due east and walk straight into the rocks to discover the cave entrance.

Finding the Shrine of the Trader allows players to access to the Merchant secondary job class.

Shrine of the Sage – Scholar

The Shrine of the Sage in Octopath Traveler can be located just off one of the game’s main paths. Starting near the entrance to the town of Noblecourt, follow the path west past the man and the tent, then turn due south and walk into the grass. Keep walking southward until spotting a little boy, then turn slightly east to walk down a path between short cliffs — players should be able to spot a nearby treasure chest if they’re heading the right direction. Continue through the grass further east until the cave entrance can be spotted, then head inside.

Finding the Shrine of the Sage allows players to access to the Scholar secondary job class.

Shrine of the Prince of Thieves – Thief

The Shrine of the Prince of Thieves is one of the easier shrines to find in Octopath Traveler. Starting from the save point and sign post due south of Quarrycrest, in the area known as the South Quarrycrest Pass, head west around the cliffside and past the bridge leading south. The path will continue down a short ramp, turn south, then loop back around under the bridge.

Finding the Shrine of the Prince of Thieves allows players to access to the Thief secondary job class.

Shrine of the Thunderblade – Warrior

The Shrine of the Thunderblade can be accessed to the west of the town of Northgard. From the signpost and save point in the junction known as North Stonegard Pass, turn west and follow the path alongside the cliff’s edge all the way to the western end of the area, then turn and walk north into the cave entrance.

Finding the Shrine of the Thunderblade allows players to access to the Warrior secondary job class.

Advanced Job Shrine Locations

In addition to the eight shrines that correspond to the eight core secondary job classes, Octopath Traveler also features four additional shrines that unlock each of the game’s four advanced jobs. Not only are these shrines harder to locate, actually unlocking the advanced jobs requires players to take down a powerful high-level boss. The challenge shouldn’t be underestimabted — just reaching the shrine entrances means going through areas with a danger level of 45, and the shrines themselves are marked as danger level 50.

Beyond all this, players would be wise to reach at least level 50 before trying to take on the advanced job shrine bosses, as some are capable of attacks that can hit individual characters for 2,000 or more damage, inflict a variety of status ailments on heroes, counterattack single characters for 9,999 damage, or deal massive elemental damage to the entire party.

Shrine of the Archmagus – Sorceror

The Shrine of the Archmagus is situated between Victors Hollow and Duskbarrow in the area known as East Duskbarrow Trail. From the Duskbarrow town entrance, turn north at the save point and follow the long winding path until just after the treasure chest. From there, look for the path obscured by fog to the north. Follow the new path after it turns back west, past the treasure chest, until the party arrives at the shrine entrance near a number of broken stone columns.

Shrine of the Runeblade – Runelord

The Shrine of the Runeblade is found south of Everhold in the area known as West Everhold Pass. Starting from the Everhold entrance, walk the stairs south, then follow the flags and the stairsets all the way back to the save point near the bridge going west. From the save point, head east down a small hill to find a new path, then turn east again to walk through a path obscured by rocks. Walk south and then turn east one last time to find the shrine entrance.

Shrine of the Starseer – Starseer

The Shrine of the Starseer is hidden out of sight just west of Wispermill in the area known as the Western Wispermill Flats. Follow the trail west from Wispermill just until the fence posts end, then turn north down the hill toward the old cart and tree. From there, turn west and keep walking straight into the shrine.

Shrine of the Warbringer – Warmaster

The Shrine of the Warbringer is located west of Riverford in the area known as the North Riverford Traverse. From the town entrance, follow the trail and the torches due west past the point where the path turns north toward a bridge. When the path dead ends at a rock wall, turn south and then west to reach the shrine entrance.
