At San Diego Comic-Con this year, Disney and Lucasfilm announced that Star Wars: Clone Wars would be coming back after a five year hiatus.

The CG cartoon focused on a period of time in the Star Wars saga between Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith, the latter two movies in the prequel trilogy. The story followed Anakin Skywalker and his padawan Ahsoka Tano, but was cut short before the journey finished while Disney pivoted focus to the sequel series Star Wars Rebels. It seems Disney is now going back to the show to finish what was started as you can see in the trailer below.

The series is coming to Disney’s yet-to-be-detailed online streaming service for at least 12 episodes, though details beyond that are scant. Both seasons 7 and seasons 8 for Clone Wars had finished scripts before the series’ cancellation, so it is likely the new episodes will employ at least the ideas from those.
