Monica Owusu-Breen, writer, executive producer, and showrunner of the in-development reboot of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, has taken to Twitter to address the backlash that has since followed this news.
Last week, it was announced that Joss Whedon and 20th Century Fox were currently developing a TV reboot of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and that a black actress would be playing the lead role of Buffy, made famous by Sarah Michelle Gellar.
In response to this reboot trying to replicate or replace the beloved characters of the original series, Owusu-Breen took it upon herself to reassure fans and let them know how much Buffy meant to her, how much she respects the original, and that there “is only one Buffy.”
