Warning! FULL SPOILERS follow for Episode 4 of Hulu’s Castle Rock. You can read our SPOILER-FREE review of the series premiere right here.
Hulu’s Castle Rock adds another layer of “huh?” in this week’s episode, titled “The Box,” which ends with a bang – literally. (Well, several bangs to be exact.) Shawshank prison guard Dennis Zalewski’s (Noel Fisher) tragic demise raises more questions than answers about who the kid from the water tank (Bill Skarsgard) might be.
Up until this episode, Skarsgard’s character has mostly just stared into space, with little to say apart from the occasional mumble or two. While the young Swedish actor can play sinister with the best of them, it’s a nice change to hear him emote, even for a moment. His reciting of the Book of Revelation chapter 19 may offer some insight into his origins. In a previous episode, Alan Pangborn (Scott Glenn) said that the late warden Dale Lacy (Terry O’Quinn) referred to the boy as the devil, so the fact that he knows the Bible by heart could be a good indication of his true nature.
