Marvel kicked off its latest X-Men event this week, and things are already looking pretty bleak for our heroes.

The original teenage X-Men have been trapped in the present-day Marvel Universe ever since 2012’s All-New X-Men #1. Extermination appears to be the story where they finally go back to their own timeline. Though if this first issue is any indication, they may not survive long enough to make the trip home. The emergence of old and new foes has resulted in the deaths of two X-Men and the capture of a third.
