For anyone who’s been waiting for HTC to cut the cords before taking the plunge on a Vive headset, next month might be the time to buy. The HTC Vive Wireless Adapter will arrive on Sept. 24 for $299, HTC announced today.
Available for pre-order starting on Sept. 5, the adapter will work with both the Vive and Vive Pro, but Pro owners will also need to purchase a $60 compatibility pack to use the adapter. Included in the compatibility pack is a connection cable, foam padding, and an attachment device.
“Since the first demos of Vive, we’ve known that to deliver on the best of premium VR, we wanted it to be wireless,” HTC Vive GM of Americas Daniel O’Brien said in the announcement post. Daniel also acknowledged that developing the adapter, which was first announced along with the Vive Pro in January, took time.
