The Big Bang Theory will end in 2019, production studio Warner Bros. TV has announced.
The show’s 12th and final season will premiere September 24 on CBS, and its final episode will air in May 2019.
The series currently stands as TV’s highest-rated comedy and is the longest-running multi-cam show in TV history, according to WBTV. By the time it wraps up next Spring, The Big Bang Theory will have aired 279 episodes.
In a joint statement, WBTV, CBS and Chuck Lorre Productions said, “We are forever grateful to our fans for their support of The Big Bang Theory during the past twelve seasons. We, along with the cast, writers and crew, are extremely appreciative of the show’s success and aim to deliver a final season, and series finale, that will bring The Big Bang Theory to an epic creative close.”
