It looks like the 1992 slasher film Candyman might be getting a remake, and Get Out’s Jordan Peele is reportedly in talks to produce the project.

As reported by Bloody Disgusting, Peele is currently in talks to produce the film through Monkeypaw Productions, which previously helped produce Get Out, BlacKkKlansman, Key and Peele and more. It is curently unlcear if Peele plans to simply produce the film, or if he will also serve as director.

While these reports should be taken with a grain of salt, the film does seem to be in Peele’s wheelhouse. The original Candyman, based off of Clive Barker’s short story The Forbidden, involves an urban legend, where if anyone looks in a mirror and says “Candyman” five times, he will appear and kill the speaker. The original film took place in Chicago, and the antagonist was an artist and the son of a slave whose painting hand was cut off and replaced with a hook – he was later covered in honey and stung to death by bees.
