Final Fantasy XIV producer and director Naoki Yoshida explained to IGN how The Great Hunt, the Rathalos trial in the Monster Hunter: World x Final Fantasy XIV Online crossover, is different from other battles.
“During battle in Final Fantasy XIV, a tank generates and sustains enmity, taking the brunt of enemy attacks, while DPS members deal damage and healers keep the tanks and DPS alive: a very clear role-based system,” Yoshida said in a statement to IGN.
“However, in Monster Hunter: World – actually the entire Monster Hunter series – you must pay constant attention to your opponent’s attack pattern and how the target is moving. You let the enemy attack first to see where it may be vulnerable. Kind of hard to put into words, but it’s a process of learning by doing,” he said.
