When your game’s first bullet point is “Become the sugar glider,” you have my attention.

Away: The Survival Series is an episodic adventure series in which animals have inherited the post-apocalyptic earth. In the first episode, you’ll play as a humble sugar glider. On top of thwarting predators — that scorpion totally just stung the shit outta the poor thing! — you’ll need to hunt for food.

If you’re anything like me, your first question is “who’s making this?” It’s a Montréal-based studio called Breaking Walls. The group is made up of former Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Rainbow Six developers.

I’m not sure how fun this will be once the novelty wears off, but the basic hook speaks to me. If all goes well, I hope the animal protagonists of future episodes are as unique to gaming as the sugar glider.

It’s the closest I’ve got to a new Tokyo Jungle.
