In news that surprises no one but is still good to confirm, the old guard behind Fox’s current superhero movies like X-Men and Deadpool will have to start answering to Marvel Cinematic Universe boss Kevin Feige now that Fox Studios belongs to Disney.

The news comes The Hollywood Reporter’s interview with Disney CEO Bob Iger. Iger is short and to the point on the subject, merely saying that it makes sense to meld Fox’s superheroes with the ones Disney already owns.

“I think it only makes sense,” Iger said when asked if Marvel will absorb those franchises. “I want to be careful here because of what’s been communicated to the Fox folks, but I think they know. It only makes sense for Marvel to be supervised by one entity. There shouldn’t be two Marvels.”

This doesn’t necessarily mean that they will be joining the existing Marvel Cinematic Universe, though, just supervised by the same person. Fox’s movies have had success with R-ratings, something Disney is seemingly unwilling to do with their superhero movies. When Iger was asked if this means Deadpool might be joining the Avengers, he replied “Kevin’s got a lot of ideas. I’m not suggesting that’s one of them. But who knows?”

What do you think? Should the Fox movies join the rest of the MCU or run separately as a more adult brand?
