Slowly but surely, the United States is getting in on the Mario Kart VR action.
The Vive-backed virtual reality experience has been playable in an arcade-scale setup in Japan and the UK. Now, Bandai Namco Amusement America is bringing Mario Kart GP VR to Washington D.C. under the same VR Zone Portal banner. You’ll be able to dodge Piranha Plants at Union Station.
“The launches in Japan and the UK brought great success,” according to national sales manager Steve Ignarski, who adds that Bandai Namco has “no doubt it will be well-received in the States.”
This is a good excuse for me to try and get more of you to read about the time Niero played Mario Kart VR in Shinjuku and wrote an absolute tome of a blog post about his experience. There’s footage, too!
While I wouldn’t make a cross-country trip, I would still like to play this and Dragon Quest VR one day. Mario Kart GP VR will begin its six-month “engagement” at Union Station next week.
