If you’re familiar with Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson’s 2006 comic book series, The Boys, you’ll know that British comedian Simon Pegg has always been associated with the property – Robertson used the Shaun of the Dead actor as the inspiration for the appearance of the story’s young, everyman hero, Hughie.

Since Pegg isn’t quite so young anymore, Amazon’s series adaptation of the comic has cast Jack Quaid in the role – but as the stars and creative team revealed at New York Comic Con, Pegg will still be a part of The Boys – and it’s probably the best possible alternative to playing Hughie, while also paying homage to Robertson’s art: he’ll play Hughie’s father.
