Red Dead Redemption 2 is a big game. Maybe not quite the 100+ GB we suspected a few weeks ago, but still very large. The Xbox Store lists it at 88.57GB. It’s a significant chunk of hard drive space.

Rockstar has revealed that it’s opening pre-loading for Red Dead Redemption one week before the game releases. It’ll be available to download on Friday October 19 at 12am Eastern for people who have pre-ordered it. Red Dead Redemption 2 launches globally on October 26.

Normally, details about pre-load dates are too thin to warrant their own posts. Red Dead Redemption 2 feels different. It’s gigantic — both in terms of popularity and file size. People want to know when they can queue it up, and some of those people actually need to queue it up that early. Nearly 89GB isn’t a walk in the park for a lot of folks’ internet connections.
