The new Halloween film has opened with $7.7 million in Thursday night preview showings in North America from 3,200 theaters, according to Variety.

The 2018 follow-up of John Carpenter’s original Halloween was previously expected to have the biggest opening in the franchise’s history at the box office. Low estimates are expecting Halloween to bring in $45 million over the weekend, with high estimates coming in at $55 million.
