The NPD Group has shared the best selling games in the United States for each year beginning in 1995, and there are some clear trends to be followed.
Revealed by NPD analyst Mat Piscatella on Twitter, eight Call of Duty games managed to top the charts in their respective years of release since 2009, missing the top spot only once in 2013 due to the massive success of Grand Theft Auto V. Prior to this, two other Grand Theft Auto titles reached number one: San Andreas in 2004 and Vice City in 2002.
