In the movies, the old west is generally presented as a somewhat noble, honour-among-thieves, showdown at High Noon affair. I have a feeling the reality of those days will be more akin to the absolute carnage we’ll see once Rockstar launch the multiplayer component of their latest hit, Red Dead Redemption 2.

According to a recent investor call, it won’t be too long before we’re all plunged into such chaotic, six-shooter warfare, as it has been stated by Take 2 CEO Strauss Zelnick that Red Dead online is expected to begin its beta-testing period at the end of November.

No real details were given about what the online component will entail, but it is expected to be a much bigger and more involved upgrade on the original Red Dead Redemption’s open world. Taking a leaf out of the amazingly successful GTA Online, Rockstar plans to keep Red Dead’s multiplayer mode constantly updated with fresh content, challenges and in-game events. Zelnick declined to detail matters of monetisation

We will, of course, keep you outlaws up to date on any further details when they eventually ride into view. Red Dead Redemption 2 is available now on PS4 and Xbox One.
