Julie Andrews, known for her roles in Mary Poppins, The Sound of Music, Torn Curtain and more, will have a key voiceover role in the upcoming Aquaman film.
Spoiler warning: potential spoilers for Aquaman ahead.
IGN can confirm Variety’s report that Andrews will indeed appear in Aquaman as the voice of Karathen, a mythical sea creature that helps Aquaman negotiate peace between Atlantis and the world above. Though far from her first voiceover role, it appears Andrews will have her recognizable voice digitally altered to some degree.
Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Aquaman producer Peter Safran said “We wanted the Karathen to have the voice of a classic British actress, albeit somewhat digitally altered. And when we found out Julie was interested and available and excited to do it, casting her was a no-brainer.”
