Man I adore the pre-DS Game Boy era. I mean the DS and 3DS were giants in their own right (and the latter is one of my most-played systems of all time), but there was something special about the compact, post original Game Boy designs that I loved. Don’t even get me started on how perfect the SP is.
It’s that love that led me to this video from Nintendo Wire, which recreates the opening cinematic for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate‘s World of Light story mode. It’s not just a great 1:1 retro-fest, it showcases a pretty badass picture of how Smash would actually work on the handheld, classic music and all.
If you’ll excuse me, I have to grab my purple translucent Game Boy Color and replay World of Light all over again (I just bought my third SP this past weekend: it’s fate!).
