The Asylum, the independent movie studio responsible for famous knock-offs like The Atlantic Rim, Tomb Invader, Independents’ Day and the original disaster franchise Sharknado, is revving up to film a mockbuster version of Disney’s Aladdin.

As reported by /Film, this version of Aladdin (a story in the public domain included in the Middle Eastern folktale compilation One Thousand and One Nights published in 1706) is set to start filming in Los Angeles this week.

The cast breakdown of the film reveals each major character, as well as a surprising amount of plot spoilers. Of course, Aladdin and Genie are both accounted for, but Jasmine and Jafar are Disney creations, so they have been switched out for the characters Shahzadi and Vizier Maghreb (respectively) who may closer resemble the characters of the original story. Four other characters that are a part of Aladdin’s street performer group are listed in the cast list as well.
