Warning! Some spoilers follow for what we saw being filmed for Netflix’s Polar!

Back in March of 2018, in an abandoned power plant near Toronto, Mads Mikkelsen along with dozens of heavily-armed extras, prep for one of the biggest actions sequences in the film. While the mood between Mikkelsen and his fellow actors is cheerful, the production and safety departments are deadly serious, ensuring that we are equipped with hard hats and earmuffs to shield us from the thunderous cacophony of gunfire. Without going into spoilers… it was an awesome experience to behold, giving us our first look at Netflix’s new action-packed movie, Polar.

Polar, based on the Dark Horse graphic novel written by Victor Santos, centers on the legendary assassin Duncan Vizla (Mikkelsen), aka The Black Kaiser. Quickly approaching the age of 50, it’s time for Duncan to retire, but his employer won’t let him go quietly into the night. With his back against the wall, Duncan is once again forced to use his deadly skills in order to stay alive.
