With Blackout mode staying fairly popular, Activision is playing with different ways to keep its battle royale title fresh and to keep people playing it. Last week, they announced Ambush mode, a variation on Blackout mode that restricts weapons to sniper rifles, launchers, and melee attacks, meaning you either kill from a distance or kill right next to someone. That mode is now live on PlayStation 4.

In addition to the weapon limits, the circle also keeps closing in with zero delay between collapses, so you can’t just stick around with a sniper rifle and hope someone crosses your field of vision. Strategy will play a vital role in the Ambush mode.

You can find full details in the update notes on the game’s subreddit. The Down But Not Out mode, which allows players to come back after defeat in Blackout, is continuing its second week on non-PlayStation 4 platforms, so you can still play that while waiting for Ambush to hit Xbox One and PC.
