Nintendo’s restrictive voice chat system is looking shabby as the company powering Fortnite’s built-in voice chat is opening its services for other games on Switch.
Vivox is a communication service providing text and voice chat to games like PUBG, Rainbow Six Siege, and League of Legends. The company announced an upcoming software development kit allowing third-party Switch developers to make use of the voice chat platform. Cross-play integration for games that support it is included right from the start.
Fortnite was the first to bring Vivox to Nintendo’s platform when it released back in June of last year. Hi-Rez is set to bring Vivox to the already released Paladins when full cross-play is added in an upcoming update on Switch. Smite will get the same treatment.
