This review contains spoilers for The Walking Dead’s Season 9 midseason opener, “Adaptation,” which debuted a week early on AMC Premiere. 

“There’s nothing out there for you.”

Though there’s plenty to dissect regarding “Adaptation,” it still mostly plays within the boundaries of textbook Walking Dead stretch. We all want cold, hard answers about the show’s new villains, but, honestly, who really thought we’d get them this week? Not only is this a post-mort chapter for Jesus (who both was and wasn’t a major character), but the series just doesn’t operate like that. I don’t think it’ll take a whole half season to give us what we want, but I also wouldn’t be floored if it did.
