A decade after The Dark Knight was infamously snubbed, Black Panther is the first comic book movie to receive an Oscar nomination as Best Picture. The Marvel-Disney film also picked up six other noms: Costume Design, Original Score, Original Song, Production Design, Sound Editing, and Sound Mixing.

Black Panther, though, isn’t the only film based on a Marvel comic vying for Oscar gold at this Sunday’s 91st Annual Academy Awards, as Sony Pictures Animation’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is nominated for Best Animated Film and Avengers: Infinity War is in the running for Best Visual Effects.
