If you followed Game Informer’s coverage of Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare or Call of Duty: WWII, you probably remember Glen Schofield. While he’s been in the industry since 1992, Schofield is best known as the creator of Dead Space and co-founder of Sledgehammer Games. On the latest episode of The Game Informer Show podcast, we spoke to Schofield about leaving Activision and his plans for the future.
Early last year, Schofield left Sledgehammer Games and worked on prototyping a new game for Activision but his work was ultimately not given the greenlight. “They didn’t go for it, but they should have,” says Schofield. “It’s hard to get a great new IP going. You got to put time and effort and money into this these things. We put time and effort into it and some money and it just didn’t work out… It hurts sometimes, but I have enough other ideas so it’s okay.”
Later in the interview, Schofield says his current dream project is to create a horror-focused sci-fi game, forcing the player to face truly otherworldly alien lifeforms. He also outlines his vision for what he’d want from a new Dead Space game, as well.
