One of the most eagerly anticipated additions to DC’s Black Label imprint finally has a release date. DC has announced that Frank Miller and John Romita, Jr.’s Superman: Year One will debut in June 2019.

Like Batman: Damned, Superman: Year One will be published in the form of three prestige format issues, with a trade paperback collection to follow. The series will be published bimonthly, with issue #2 releasing in August, issue #3 following in October and the collection hitting stores in November.

Superman: Year One is the latest DC story to reexamine the Man of Steel’s origin story from a new perspective. However, this project is notable for reuniting Miller and Romita, who previously re-imagined Matt Murdock’s early years on Daredevil: The Man Without Fear. Superman hasn’t always been portrayed in the most flattering light in Miller’s Batman work, so it’ll be interesting to see how his take on the character evolves when Clark Kent is the main protagonist.
