Ryan Reynolds has revealed that he originally wanted to use a different voice for his character in Pokemon Detective Pikachu.
Talking to chat show host Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show on Thursday night (via The Hollywood Reporter), Reynolds – who voices the titular Pikachu in the film – explained that his original idea for the detective electric mouse’s voice was a “film noir” style approach. It would be like “Who Framed Roger Rabbit had a baby with Blade Runner,” said Reynolds.
But apparently the film’s producers were less keen on the idea. “Or maybe just do Ryan Reynolds… Maybe shut up and do the other thing,” Reynolds said they suggested.
