Google’s newest phone is here, and in some ways it harkens back to the first phones Google put out. At just $399 for the smaller model, it lines up with the early Nexus phones the company released years ago. That price also places it well below the standard Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL models that came out late last year.

For some, the new Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL will be a sensible upgrade, while others may not get as much out of them. Let’s take a look at what these phones offer, and whether or not they’ll be worthy upgrades based on the type of phone you’ve got now.
