Aladdin topped the North American box office this weekend, earning an estimated $86.1 million in its domestic debut (it could reach up to $100 million by Monday’s Memorial Day holiday).
Aladdin is Disney’s latest live-action reimagining — in either remake or sequel form — of one of their animated classics. So how does Aladdin’s opening weekend compare to the previous films?
2017’s Beauty and the Beast remains the undisputed champ with a $174.8 million bow, followed by Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland with a $116.1 million opening.
