We are a good month past the release of Warner Bros. Mortal Kombat 11, I know it’s been that long, because we’ve reached that period where most online players have stopped doing fatalities, tired of watching the same animations over and again. It was the same with MK X and MK 9, and I’m thoroughly grateful for this time period. We’ve seen it all. The Fight is now the thing, as it always should be.

Still, new content is on the horizon and – according to a new tweet from Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon – new DLC news may be incoming next week. Many fans expected to see a reveal at last weekend’s Combo Breaker event, but it looks like we’ll have to wait a little longer to see who’s next. It should be noted that, this being MK, nothing is set in stone.

We already know that shape-shifting sorcerer Shang Tsung is on his way, and speculation has been rife following a snug-seeming leak, some of which has been denied in suspect fashion. Hopefully by next week we’ll know who’s gearing up for battle, and I can start prepping Cassie Cage for retirement.

Mortal Kombat 11 is available now on PS4, PC, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch
