Bruce Wayne’s extraordinary butler, Alfred Pennyworth, is getting a proper live-action origin story courtesy of EPIX. Premiering on July 28, 2019, the Batman prequel dives into one of DC Comics’ most iconic characters.

Per EPIX, “Pennyworth is a 10-episode, one-hour drama series based on DC characters created by Bob Kane with Bill Finger. It follows Bruce Wayne’s legendary butler, Alfred Pennyworth (Jack Bannon), a former British SAS soldier who forms a security company and goes to work with Thomas Wayne (Ben Aldridge), Bruce’s billionaire father, in 1960’s London.”

The series is being brought to life by Gotham producers Bruno Heller and Danny Cannon. Pennyworth also features a strong supporting cast,  including multi-award-winning recording artist Paloma Faith, Jason Flemyng (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button), Ryan Fletcher (Outlander), Hainsley Lloyd Bennett (Eastenders), Emma Paetz (Gentleman Jack), Polly Walker (Rome) and Emma Corrin (The Crown).
