One of the best budget 4K TVs for gaming, the 55-inch LG UK6300, has been discounted from £479 to £399 at the BT Shop today. That’s a solid reduction on one of our favourite budget 4K TVs.

We picked the LG UK6300 in our recent best 4K TVs for HDR gaming article because it offers exceptional value. Its IPS panel is reasonably colour-accurate and offers extremely low input lag of just 12ms when in game mode, even with 4K HDR content. By comparison, most 4K TVs have input lag measurements in the 20-40ms range. That makes gaming feel tight and responsive, which is particularly important in fast-paced game genres like battle royales, shooters and fighting games.

Viewing angles are also strong, so you will be able to get a good picture no matter where you’re sitting in the room – in comparison, a TV with a VA panel instead would only look at its best when you’re sitting directly in front of it. However, contrast on the UK6300 isn’t as good as you’d expect on a VA or OLED screen, which limits the effect of HDR content. You will still notice a small improvement when switching from SDR to HDR, but if HDR is an important feature you’re better off saving up for a higher-tier QLED or OLED panel (we have some recommendations here). Unfortunately, the game mode on this TV required for low input lag disables HDR, so we recommend sticking with SDR for gaming and turning on HDR just for video. In terms of smart features it’s good news though, with LG’s webOS interface being regarded as one of the best in the business.
