Update , June 4, 2019: The decision to cast Robert Pattinson as The Batman — still as yet to be officially announced by Warner Bros. — was reportedly a pretty quick and easy one for the studio and director Matt Reeves.

“It was quick,” a Warners insider told The Hollywood Reporter. “Quicker than normal.” According to THR, the only two candidates for the role were Pattinson and the previously reported Nicholas Hoult.

Reeves is said to have sparked to Pattinson’s performances in Good Times and High-Life. “Reeves is said to have considered Pattinson, 33, early on in the process, says one source, even though no outreach was made. Reeves didn’t even know if the actor wanted the part,” the trade claims.
